First Meeting of the National Compensation Policy Research Group
A government council has been launched to strengthen the compensation system for public officials who have suffered disasters while dedicating themselves to the nation, such as firefighting, arresting criminals, and quarantine. The Ministry of Personnel Management and the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs announced on the 27th that they officially launched the 'National Compensation Policy Research Group' and held its first meeting at the Government Complex Sejong. This newly established research group is the first regular government-level council designed to ensure prompt and substantial compensation and respect for civil servants who are injured, die, or become ill while working.
The meeting focused on closely linking policies and systems among related agencies, including the Ministry of Personnel Management, the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs, the Ministry of National Defense, and the Ministry of Employment and Labor, to activate collaboration.
In particular, the 'Research Group Operation Direction' was shared to promote integrated understanding and communication between disaster compensation and veterans systems, and discussions were held on major tasks such as △ innovation in veterans review and registration △ establishment of a system for joint utilization of resources and information between agencies.
The Ministry of Employment and Labor (Korea Workers' Compensation and Welfare Service) presented on the topic of 'AI Technology-Based Disability Grade Prediction Model Case' to enhance the objectivity and consistency of disaster compensation and veterans review and discussed the possibilities of system innovation.
The Ministry of Personnel Management and the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs plan to continue sharing policy issues by holding regular quarterly meetings (June, September, November) starting with this first meeting.
Kim Jeong-yeon, Director of Disaster Compensation Policy at the Ministry of Personnel Management, said, "We will continue to enhance the field-centered compensation system so that civil servants can perform their duties actively and with confidence, even in the face of disaster risks."
