The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs has decided to add Lumpy Skin Disease to the list of livestock infectious diseases eligible for reduced culling compensation.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs announced on the 27th that it has revised and promulgated the 'Enforcement Decree of the Act on the Prevention of Livestock Infectious Diseases' to provide incentives to farms with excellent quarantine and penalties to farms with insufficient quarantine.

According to the amendment, considering that Lumpy Skin Disease is a disease that can be sufficiently prevented through vaccination and control of vector insects such as mosquitoes and biting flies, new criteria for reducing compensation have been established. It is stipulated that 20% of the total evaluation amount can be deducted for farms where the disease occurs. Currently, diseases subject to compensation reduction include foot-and-mouth disease, highly pathogenic avian influenza (AI), and African swine fever (ASF), with Lumpy Skin Disease newly added this time.
