In the recruitment market, the job offering the highest salary among job postings that list national technical qualifications as a preferential condition is in the mining resources field, with an average of 3,670,000 KRW. Following are the materials field (2,960,000 KRW), construction field (2,950,000 KRW), and safety management field (2,910,000 KRW) in that order.
According to the wage data for national technical qualification categories released by the Korea Industrial Human Resources Corporation and the Ministry of Employment and Labor on the 27th, this was the finding.
The average proposed salary in job postings by qualification grade is 3,280,000 KRW for engineers, 2,830,000 KRW for master craftsmen, 2,890,000 KRW for technicians, 2,830,000 KRW for industrial technicians, 2,610,000 KRW for craftsmen, and 2,280,000 KRW for the service field.
By category, the construction safety engineer had the highest salary at 4,620,000 KRW among the engineer and master craftsman grades, the construction material testing technician at 3,640,000 KRW for the technician grade, the construction material testing industrial technician at 3,890,000 KRW for the industrial technician grade, the drilling machine operator craftsman at 4,000,000 KRW for the craftsman grade, and the computer accounting operator level 2 at 2,500,000 KRW for the service field.
When analyzing the starting salary for those who have obtained national technical qualifications and found employment, based on employment insurance from 2023 to 2024, the median salary was 4,310,000 KRW for the engineer grade, 2,990,000 KRW for the master craftsman, 2,650,000 KRW for the technician, 2,700,000 KRW for the industrial technician, 2,220,000 KRW for the craftsman, and 2,150,000 KRW for the service field.
By job field, the starting median salary in the mining resources field was the highest at 3,400,000 KRW, followed by safety management at 2,900,000 KRW, chemistry at 2,800,000 KRW, materials at 2,750,000 KRW, and machinery at 2,620,000 KRW.
By category (with 50 or more employed), the concrete technician had the highest salary at 4,200,000 KRW for the technician grade, the gas industrial technician at 3,160,000 KRW for the industrial technician grade, the blast furnace craftsman at 3,140,000 KRW for the craftsman grade, and the secretary level 2 at 2,330,000 KRW for the service field.
By age group, in the youth category (19-34 years), the metal material technician and steelmaking craftsman each earned 3,400,000 KRW, the gas industrial technician 3,270,000 KRW, and the blast furnace craftsman 3,140,000 KRW.
In the middle-aged group (35-54 years), the construction safety technician earned 3,710,000 KRW, the construction safety industrial technician 3,470,000 KRW, the building facilities technician 3,330,000 KRW, and the industrial safety technician 3,200,000 KRW, while in the older age group (55 years and above), the building technician had the highest salary at 3,980,000 KRW, followed by the construction safety technician at 3,400,000 KRW, the building facilities technician at 3,100,000 KRW, and the energy management technician at 3,030,000 KRW.
Lim Young-mi, Director of the Vocational Competency Policy Bureau at the Ministry of Employment and Labor, stated, "Salaries can vary depending on various characteristics of individuals and companies, in addition to obtaining national technical qualifications, so there are limitations in comparison," but added, "The wage information analyzed from big data of over 200,000 job postings and over 170,000 national technical qualification holders will be attractive information for job seekers aiming to obtain quality jobs by acquiring national technical qualifications." She continued, "We will continue to strive to provide necessary information to the public through the analysis of national technical qualification data."
