[Financial News] The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation held the '2025 Domestic Wheat Specialized Production Complex Briefing Session' on the 27th in Naju, Jeonnam, targeting 103 domestic wheat specialized production complexes and consulting agencies nationwide.
This briefing session was prepared to share the main contents and policy directions of the domestic wheat government reserve project and to promote the activation of the domestic wheat industry.
This briefing session, conducted in both online and offline formats, provided information on △domestic wheat industry development plans △government reserve implementation procedures and step-by-step precautions △research results on domestic wheat quality management standards.
The domestic wheat government reserve project shared on this day will be promoted with a total scale of 23,000t this year, and priority purchases will be made targeting wheat specialized production complexes. During the purchase, quality standards will be subdivided by purpose, such as for baking and noodle making, to stably secure quantities suitable for each purpose.
This year, in addition to the existing purchase varieties of Saegeumgang, Geumgang, and Baekgang, the 'Hwanggeumal' variety will be added to broaden farmers' choices, and aT's Quality Safety Department will also support safety inspections to alleviate farmers' inspection cost burdens.
To expand the production of high-demand baking varieties, the price difference with noodle-making varieties will be adjusted, and customized cultivation for demand sources will be induced to enhance the competitiveness of the domestic wheat industry.
Moon In-cheol, aT supply director, said, "Now that 5 years have passed since the enactment of the Wheat Industry Promotion Act, the domestic wheat industry is at an important turning point, such as establishing the second basic plan," and "We will contribute to the stability of the domestic wheat industry by establishing a sustainable government reserve system to increase the income of wheat farming households."
