Microtracking technology...Transparent disclosure of donation usage
[Financial News] The blockchain-based donation platform startup Cherry announced on the 27th that it has surpassed a cumulative donation amount of 20 billion won. It has been about 5 years and 5 months since its launch in December 2019.
During this time, Cherry has provided various services to allow anyone to experience donation easily and enjoyably. In particular, by applying microtracking, which tracks location like GPS, one of the blockchain technologies, it transparently showed where the donations flow and how they are used.
In the case of 'Cherry Walk', where donations are made by walking, users only need to install the Cherry application and walk to automatically donate. It gained support as a healthy daily habit connected to donations.
There is also a walking-only donation campaign targeting companies or donation organizations called 'Cherry Sneakers Day'. It was evaluated as a program that realizes ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) values and enhances teamwork as members of companies or organizations walk together.
What draws attention is the new attempt to encourage donation participation from the MZ generation. It utilized four-cut photo devices or kiosks familiar to the MZ generation.
'Cherry Photo' automatically donates just by taking a photo, and 'Cherry Kiosk' allows participants to donate small amounts simply by touching the screen.
It was installed not only on university campuses but also in hotels, parks, resorts, and companies and event venues operating donation campaigns. Thanks to this, over 56% of all donors through Cherry were from the MZ generation.
Cherry CEO Lee Soo-jung said, "It is meaningful as a record achieved in a difficult economic situation," and "It is a valuable result achieved by the participation of many small donors."
