[Financial News] The Personal Information Protection Commission announced that it will respond as quickly as possible to the group dispute mediation related to the SKT personal information leak incident.
According to the Personal Information Commission on the 27th, a total of 100 group dispute mediation applications related to the SKT incident have been received and the procedure is underway. The Personal Information Commission intends to complete the process within the 60-day mediation period stipulated by law, after reviewing the overall handling direction as the mediation applications have been received.
The Personal Information Commission stated, "The related procedures will be conducted through the full meeting of the Dispute Mediation Committee, and the application documents were reviewed, and a correction was requested from the applicant on the 26th."
If the correction is smoothly made, the procedure will officially start as early as mid-June after a resolution at the full meeting of the Dispute Mediation Committee. Those who wish to participate in the group dispute mediation can apply additionally during the announcement period (14 days) notifying the start of the procedure.
However, the actual mediation will be temporarily suspended during the investigation period of the Personal Information Commission on this case, and will resume immediately after the investigation and disposition are completed to prepare a mediation plan. If all parties accept this mediation plan, it becomes effective for all applicants, but if some parties do not accept it, the mediation does not establish.
A representative of the Personal Information Commission said, "The Dispute Mediation Committee plans to proceed with the related procedures as quickly and actively as possible in line with the purpose of the current system, which allows for simple and fair resolution of disputes without going through costly and time-consuming litigation, to ensure the relief of victims."
