'G-SAFE' Service Launch Briefing... Transition from Post-Accident Response to Pre-emptive Prevention System
【Financial News Gwangju=Hwang Taejong Reporter】Gwangju Metropolitan City is embarking on the construction of an AI-based city bus safety monitoring system 'G-SAFE (Gwangju Smart AI For Early-warning)' to prevent city bus traffic accidents.
Gwangju City announced that it held a 'City Bus Safety Monitoring System G-SAFE Construction Service Launch Briefing' at the City Hall Happiness Meeting Room on the 27th. The briefing was held with the attendance of officials from Gwangju City, Gwangju Bus Transport Business Association, and local transportation companies, sharing the project direction and main functions of the system.
According to Gwangju City, a '3-party agreement for the construction and operation of G-SAFE' was signed with the Korea Transportation Safety Authority and Gwangju City Bus Transport Association in June 2023.
The core of the 'G-SAFE' construction project is to create a safe public transportation environment for citizens by transitioning the existing post-accident response-focused traffic safety management system to an AI-based pre-emptive prevention system. It focuses on preventing accidents caused by human factors such as sudden stops, speeding, and drowsy driving.
Key functions include △real-time vehicle location and risky driving behavior monitoring △vehicle-specific sensor data analysis and risk factor detection △driver operation pattern analysis for speeding and sudden stops △maintenance guidance based on failure prediction △GPS-based automatic analysis and visualization of accident-prone areas.
Gwangju City plans to start full-scale operation after installing and testing pilot terminals in the second half of this year.
Additionally, based on this system, it plans to expand the use of 'G-SAFE' in various fields such as developing driver-tailored educational materials, setting maintenance priorities, and establishing traffic accident prevention policies.
Kim Youngseon, Director of Gwangju City's Integrated Airport Transportation Bureau, said, "Public transportation is a core service directly related to citizens' safety," and "We will realize a smart public transportation system that predicts and responds to accidents in advance through 'G-SAFE'."
