[Financial News] Former President Lee Myung-bak (MB) expressed his support for Kim Moon-soo, the presidential candidate of the People Power Party, on the 27th, emphasizing that "if Lee Jae-myung (Democratic Party) becomes president, it will be national governance, and if Kim Moon-soo becomes president, it will be national management."
Former President Lee, during a luncheon with Candidate Kim at a hotel in Yeouido, Seoul, said, "Is it right for this era to have a president who governs the nation, or a president who can manage the nation? Candidate Kim Moon-soo knows the difficulties of workers better than anyone, knows business management well, and is an administrator who has attracted businesses, so I hope he becomes a good president who accumulates experience to manage the nation," according to Shin Dong-wook, the chief spokesperson of the People Power Party, who was present.
Former President Lee, upon meeting Candidate Kim, embraced him and publicly expressed his support by saying, "I came to make Kim Moon-soo win."
During the luncheon, Former President Lee encouraged, "Candidate Kim's strengths are becoming well-known to the public, and he is indeed a good candidate who knows workers well, knows businesses well, and has administrative experience," adding, "The people will surely recognize it. I hope he works hard until the end."
To Candidate Kim, who requested advice on policies for a business-friendly country, Former President Lee mentioned his past choice of a pragmatic approach, advocating for the removal of administrative regulations, and said, "Korea's labor issues are making it too difficult for businesses, and as someone who understands the issues derived from workers' problems better than anyone, Candidate Kim must be elected to become a president who contributes to the welfare of many workers by keeping Korean businesses here."
Regarding international issues, Former President Lee advised, "After being elected, go to the United States as soon as possible to meet President Trump," explaining, "Even if Candidate Lee Jae-myung claims to be centrist or pro-American, in this information society, the US knows better than anyone what kind of person Lee Jae-myung is."
Especially, Former President Lee predicted, "Even if he goes and says something outwardly, the conversation might not go well," suggesting that if Candidate Lee Jae-myung takes office, Korea-US relations might not proceed smoothly.
Former President Lee encouraged, "We are different from China, and we have the advantage of being a country that has signed an FTA with the US, so if Candidate Kim persuades well, it will be more effective than Candidate Lee Jae-myung going."
Regarding unification with Lee Jun-seok, the candidate of the Reform New Party, Former President Lee said without specific mention, "I hope he does his best in a sincere manner appealing to the people until the end."
Chief Spokesperson Shin Dong-wook emphasized, "MB's luncheon, former President Park Geun-hye's outing, and former Prime Minister Lee Nak-yeon's declaration of support for Candidate Kim Moon-soo are part of the process of public opinion gathering towards Candidate Kim," adding, "Rather than being a party where one person speaks and no one can breathe, we are democratic, and our hearts are gathering for Kim Moon-soo."
