[Financial News] Woori Bank announced on the 27th that it has begun enhancing its anomaly detection system (FDS) using artificial intelligence (AI) technology.
Currently, Woori Bank operates a scenario-based FDS to prevent the recurrence of the same type of incidents that occurred in the past. Since the system's activation last February, it has monitored loan transactions and detected about 200 suspicious cases, such as false income entries. Detected abnormal financial transactions are immediately inspected by dedicated personnel, establishing a real-time response system.
This FDS enhancement is a measure to preemptively respond to increasingly sophisticated and complex financial incidents. The goal is to open the system in the first half of 2026. In particular, consulting is underway to introduce behavior pattern analysis techniques using AI technology, focusing on expanding the detection range and improving precision.
Main consulting topics include △Design of AI-based FDS enhancement △Analysis of abnormal transaction detection data and introduction of new technologies △Design of abnormal transaction detection systems for headquarters departments. Through this, Woori Bank plans to build an optimized 'anomaly detection system' capable of generating scenarios based on financial data analysis and extracting precise data.
A Woori Bank representative stated, "By enhancing the inspection system using AI technology, we will automatically analyze vast financial data and preemptively predict potential abnormal financial transactions, establishing a proactive inspection system," adding, "We will continue to actively introduce digital new technologies into inspection tasks to continuously strive for innovation in internal control."
