Completion Target by End of 2026... Supporting Export SMEs with AI-Based Smart Logistics Platform
[Financial News] An air logistics hub to support the global expansion of small and medium enterprises will be established in the 2nd Airport Logistics Complex of Incheon International Airport.
The Small and Medium Venture Business Promotion Corporation and Incheon International Airport Corporation announced that they held a groundbreaking ceremony for the 'Dedicated Joint Logistics Center for SMEs (Smart Trade Hub)' at the site in Jung-gu, Incheon on the 27th.
The Smart Trade Hub was selected as a national project in 2022 and has been promoted jointly by related ministries such as the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, and the Ministry of Economy and Finance. Jungjinkong and Incheon Airport Corporation have signed an agreement and are cooperating by sharing the construction of logistics facilities and the provision of land and construction. It will be built with a total floor area of 26,129㎡ and four floors above ground, aiming for completion by the end of 2026.
The Smart Trade Hub is designed to accommodate various export logistics demands, consisting of a bypass express terminal, a commercial cargo terminal, and a fulfillment center. It will be operated as a one-stop logistics platform with smart logistics technology such as a deep learning-based AI vision system and automated warehouse robots applied from storage to customs clearance and delivery.
Export SMEs can use high-quality logistics services at costs more than 10% cheaper than existing ones, regardless of the volume of goods. Logistics operations will be handled by a consortium of five companies: Samsung SDS, Trax Logistics Korea, Korea City Airport, Rinkos, and Samyoung Logistics.
This center will be established in the Incheon Airport Free Trade Zone, providing tenant companies with benefits such as tax incentives and simplified customs procedures. Expert consulting and training programs will also be operated to resolve logistics difficulties.
Kang Seok-jin, Chairman of Jungjinkong, stated, "The Smart Trade Hub will be a great support for SMEs facing global supply chain uncertainties and high logistics costs," adding, "In addition to logistics, we will actively support the strengthening of export SMEs' competitiveness by linking with various support projects of Jungjinkong, such as finance and manpower support."
