[Financial News] A man in his 30s was sentenced to prison for hitting his cohabitant with a blunt weapon for not doing housework.
According to the legal community on the 27th, Judge Kim Song of the Changwon District Court Criminal Division 4 sentenced A (34) to 10 months in prison for charges including special injury.
A was indicted for injuring his cohabitant, a woman in her 30s, B, by hitting her buttocks and thighs 20 times with a 50cm aluminum rod at their residence in Jinhae, Changwon, Gyeongnam, around 8 p.m. on October 22, 2023.
At the time of the crime, A, who returned home after work, argued with B for only drinking and not doing housework. A cursed and assaulted with a blunt weapon, saying, "I worked overtime and came home to this. Would you feel good? If you don't listen, you should be hit."
A is also accused of punching B 7-8 times while she was sitting in the passenger seat of a moving car in August last year. It was investigated that A, who went to pick up B around quitting time, argued with B for passing by without seeing him and said, "I will hit you once every time you don't see a passerby," and hit her arm with his fist.
Judge Kim said, "The defendant committed a bad crime against the victim, who is weaker than him, by hitting her 20 times with an aluminum rod because he was angry," and "considered that the victim is pleading for severe punishment due to extreme mental distress."
However, A was not detained in court, considering that there is no concern about evidence destruction or escape, and that there is a need to provide an opportunity for damage recovery.
