[Financial News] Gangdong-gu announced on the 27th that it urges the Ministry of Land to promptly announce the results related to the Myeongil-dong sinkhole incident.
The Ministry of Land formed the 'Central Underground Accident Investigation Committee' by the 30th of last month to investigate the sinkhole incident that occurred in Myeongil-dong, Gangdong-gu on March 24. As a ground subsidence accident continued in Iljik-dong, Gwangmyeong, the investigation completion date was extended to June.
Gangdong-gu insists on the prompt announcement of the investigation results for the sinkhole section that occurred earlier in Myeongil-dong. This is to minimize residents' anxiety and economic impact and for damage compensation. Gangdong-gu plans to submit an official document to the Ministry of Land urging the announcement of results to identify the cause of the incident.
Merchants near the accident site complained, “Residents are still anxious due to the accident trauma, and the number of customers visiting the business has decreased, resulting in significant sales losses.” A business owner who suspended operations after the accident lamented, “Life has become difficult. Waiting for compensation processing is also challenging and daunting.”
The district is listening to the opinions of residents and merchants around the accident site and confirming the damage situation. Since the 2nd, an emergency underground joint precision inspection has been conducted on road sections covering both city and district roads.
