【Financial News Jeonju=Kang In Reporter】 The police have decided not to forward the case against Seogeoseok, the Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province Education Superintendent, who was under investigation for bribery allegations.

The Jeonbuk Police Agency announced on the 27th that they decided not to forward the case against Superintendent Seo due to insufficient evidence, as there was no objective evidence to support the statements of those involved in the case.

This means they intend to close the investigation due to lack of sufficient evidence.

Similarly, they decided not to forward the case against Mr. A, who was booked for bribery, for the same reason.

The police had been investigating Superintendent Seo for allegedly receiving approximately 12 million won from Mr. A in exchange for the promotion of his child to a scholarship officer during his candidacy in April-May 2022. They summoned related parties for questioning and checked accounts, but found no other suspicious points except for Mr. A depositing 2 million won into a sponsorship account.

Superintendent Seo expressed his intention to focus on educational duties following the police decision.

Seogeoseok Jeonbuk Education Superintendent stated in a statement, "I consistently claimed innocence throughout the police investigation process and sincerely participated in the explanation without any shame," adding, "Ultimately, the truth has been revealed. Although the police announcement has cleared the suspicions, this incident has further confirmed that it was a typical smear campaign."

He continued, "Those who tried to shake Jeonbuk education with lies must be held accountable," and added, "I express my deep gratitude to the residents and education family who believed in and supported me. I will listen more humbly."
