Held at the Busan Cinema Center from the 13th to the 15th of next month... 10 films including 'Ramen Enthusiast' to be screened
[Financial News] The Busan Food Film Festa Organizing Committee announced the films and programs for this year's festival on the 27th.This festival, which started in 2017, is an attempt to integrate Busan's representative film industry with the culinary tourism industry, and has become a representative local film and culinary cultural festival today. This year, it will be held for three days from the 13th to the 15th of next month around the Busan Cinema Center under the theme 'Front, Back, Side'.
The opening films to be screened at 7 PM on the 13th are 'The Taste of Pho (Poland, directed by Mariko Bobrik)' and 'Aoba's Table, The Movie'. 'The Taste of Pho' is a work that resolves conflicts and reconciliation in the lives of a Vietnamese immigrant father and daughter through food, while 'Aoba's Table' depicts the experiences of a high school student Yuko who moves to Tokyo alone and stays at a friend's house.
The event is composed of four sections: 'Front', 'Back', 'Side', and 'Food Film Festa Choice, Movie Dining', with screenings and other programs. The 'Front' section will feature the opening film 'The Taste of Pho' and the comic film 'Delta Boys (directed by Go Bong-su)' which combines music and food.
The 'Back' section will feature two films, 'Ramen Enthusiast (Japan, directed by Shigeno Kogi)' and 'Midnight Diner 2 (Japan, directed by Matsuoka George)', highlighting noodle culture through various noodle dishes from abroad. The 'Side' section will present two films, 'Father's Mala Soup (Hong Kong, directed by Mak Hei-in)' and 'Aruna's Taste (Indonesia, directed by Edwin)', conveying the process of how the taste of various noodle dishes becomes an emotion.
The Food Film Festa Choice Movie Dining, which introduces the latest food films, will screen three works: 'The Solitary Gourmet The Movie', 'Ordinary Family', and 'Komada Whiskey Family'. Accompanying events such as 'Cook Talk', 'Food Terrace', 'Juju Club', 'Food Salon', 'Food Therapy', and 'Food Zone' will also be held to enjoy food films more interestingly.
'Cook Talk' is a program to discuss the food stories in the films before the main screening, 'Food Terrace' is a tourism program to enjoy movies with a yacht, and 'Juju Club' is an event to share behind-the-scenes stories with programmers over drinks. 'Food Salon' is a talk show with experts on the theme of noodles, 'Food Therapy' is a program where visitors can make food themselves, experiencing vegetable pizza cooking, and 'Food Zone' is a space to encounter food trucks and pop-up stores.
The festival's opening ceremony and outdoor screenings are free to participate in, while some programs such as 'Food Terrace' and 'Juju Club' are paid. Paid programs can be participated in through advance reservations on the Busan Cinema Center website starting from the 28th.
