[Financial News] Lee Ju-ho, Acting President and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, attended the '1st Aerospace Day' commemoration ceremony held at the Aerospace Administration in Sacheon, Gyeongnam on the 27th, stating, "Aerospace is a cutting-edge core industry and economy that determines national competitiveness beyond today's science and technology and is an important investment for future generations," emphasizing public-private cooperation in the New Space era, "We must infinitely expand Korea's space economy to the moon, Mars, and deep space, realizing the potential of space through added value and resources that could not be dreamed of with existing industries."
He further stated, "The government will provide unwavering support for challenges for the future of Korea's aerospace centered on the Aerospace Administration," and "We will actively foster the industry through the aerospace complex and develop key leading technologies such as reusable launch vehicles and ultra-high-resolution satellites to lead new global aerospace standards."
Aerospace Day, designated as a national holiday following the opening of the Aerospace Administration on May 27, 2024, held its first commemoration ceremony this year to celebrate the first anniversary of the Aerospace Administration's opening and to honor the dedication of the Aerospace Administration staff and contributors in the aerospace field who successfully led the first flight of the Aerospace Administration over the past year. Acting President Lee Ju-ho awarded commendations to contributors in the aerospace field and supported Korea's future leap in aerospace.
Subsequently, the acting president visited Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) nearby, held a meeting with industry-academia-research stakeholders, listened to field opinions, and encouraged those working for the development of the aerospace industry. The meeting was attended by Kang Gu-young, President of KAI, Kwon Jin-hoe, President of Gyeongsang National University, Lee Byung-woon, President of Sunchon National University, Park Min-won, President of Changwon National University, Lee Sang-cheol, Director of the Korea Aerospace Research Institute, Park Jang-hyun, Director of the Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute, and Noh Kyung-won, Deputy Director of the Aerospace Administration.
Acting President Lee stated, "Nurturing talent in the aerospace field is a core task that goes beyond simple technology accumulation, determining our country's technological sovereignty and future competitiveness," and "The government will fully support universities to play a central role in these strategic fields."
