[Financial News] The Livestock Products Quality Evaluation Institute announced on the 27th that it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on the 20th with three honey grade inspection organizations to promote the honey grading system.
This agreement was made with the Korea Beekeeping Cooperative, Korea Beekeeping Association, and the Agricultural and Livestock Microbial Industry Promotion Support Center. It was concluded on May 20th, World Bee Day, based on discussions on issues such as delays in honey standard inspections, which were raised during a preliminary meeting held in January to boost the beekeeping industry's vitality through active participation in the honey grading system.
Through this MOU, cooperation was discussed on △ smooth operation of standard inspections and prompt grading results during peak honey production season △ strengthening cooperation for participation in the grading system for beekeeping farms and packaging companies △ discovering demand for graded honey, product development, and market expansion △ system improvement and promotion to expand consumer awareness.
The Livestock Products Quality Evaluation Institute provides inspection progress information for each inspection agency within the standard inspection application system, allowing packaging facilities to check and select pending inspection quantities. The procedure for applying for grading after standard inspection has been changed to a simultaneous application process to simplify the procedures, and active administration is being carried out, such as designating new inspection agencies in December last year.
Park Byeong-hong, Director of the Livestock Products Quality Evaluation Institute, said, "In a difficult time for the beekeeping industry due to forest fire damage, bee deaths, and increased imports of honey, I hope this MOU will serve as a catalyst for the recovery of industry vitality," and added, "The Livestock Products Quality Evaluation Institute will continue to do its best to enhance the quality of domestic honey so that consumers can safely consume domestic honey."
