[Financial News]  The prosecution has sought a prison sentence in the second trial for Kim Mo (25 years old), a prestigious medical student accused of illegally filming women he dated.
Defense lawyer pleads for leniency for "a student who has grown up exemplary all his life"

According to News1 and the legal community on the 27th, the Seoul Northern District Court Criminal Division 1-3 (Chief Judge Yoon Woong-gi, Kim Tae-kyun, Won Jeong-sook) held an appeal trial for Kim, who was indicted on charges of violating the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Crimes (camera use photography and distribution, etc.).

Kim is accused of illegally filming the bodies of two women, including a woman he dated, 16 times from September 26, 2022, to April 2023. It is reported that more than 100 photos of women were stored on his mobile phone.

The prosecution requested the court to sentence Kim to one year in prison, along with an order to complete a sexual violence treatment program, disclose registration information, and restrict employment at institutions related to children and adolescents for one year, considering the risk of recidivism.

The defense argued, "The defendant has grown up as an exemplary student all his life, and the fact that he committed such a crime and is standing in court is shocking to me as a lawyer, as well as to the defendant's parents," in their final argument.

They added, "Considering that he was immature and young when he had just become an adult after finishing college entrance exams, and that it is too harsh for a young person to lose all future opportunities due to one mistake, we ask for leniency."

In court, Kim said, "I realized too late how much harm my wrongdoing has caused the victim, and I reflect on it every day. I am more ashamed that the crime I committed has caused such great harm to the victim than the fear of not achieving my goals."
Prosecution seeks prison sentence... Verdict on the 24th of next month

The court has set the sentencing date for 10:30 a.m. on the 24th of next month.

Previously, in the first trial, Kim stated, "Although shameless, if a path opens for me to live as a medical professional, I want to choose emergency medicine, a field that is avoided due to medical vacancies, and live atoning for my current wrongdoing," he said.

At that time, he was sentenced to 8 months in prison with a 2-year probation, and was ordered to complete 40 hours of a sexual violence treatment program and was restricted from employment at institutions related to children, adolescents, and the disabled for 3 years each.
