Police: 'Murderer Cha Cheol-nam, Planned Crime from Early This Month, Not a Psychopath'... Detained and Sent to Prosecution

[Financial News] It was revealed by police investigation that Cha Cheol-nam, a Chinese national who was arrested for killing two acquaintances and injuring two others in Siheung City, Gyeonggi Province, planned the crime from early this month.

Gyeonggi Siheung Police Station announced on the 27th that they decided to detain and send Cha Cheol-nam to the prosecution on charges of murder and attempted murder and released the investigation results of this case.

According to the police, Cha Cheol-nam is accused of killing A and B, brothers in their 50s of Chinese nationality, with a blunt weapon at his residence in Jeongwang-dong, Siheung City, and at the brothers' nearby home on the 17th. He is also accused of injuring a woman in her 60s, convenience store owner C, and a man in his 70s, landlord D, with a weapon near his residence and at a nearby sports park on the 19th, two days later.

Cha Cheol-nam testified to the police that he committed the crime after failing to recover about 30 million won he lent several times to the A brothers, whom he had been close to like family since entering the country in 2012 with an F4 visa issued to overseas Koreans.

Cha Cheol-nam claimed to the police, "The A brothers have the ability to repay, but they kept not paying back the money," and "I felt like I was being used all this time, so I decided to kill them."

It is reported that Cha Cheol-nam lured A to his residence by saying "Let's drink" and killed him, and then killed B as well.

The police identified that Cha Cheol-nam prepared for the crime in advance, such as purchasing a weapon from early this month, about 10 days before the incident, through CCTV footage, financial records, and communication investigations.

Cha Cheol-nam also stole the victim's SUV vehicle after committing the crime. After spending two days in the car, he felt despair, thinking 'life is over,' and decided to commit crimes against B and C as well, according to investigations.

It is known that Cha Cheol-nam also harbored bad feelings towards B and C. He testified that he stabbed B and C with a weapon because "They slandered me" and "They ignored me," respectively.

Meanwhile, the police conducted a profiling interview and an antisocial personality disorder (psychopath) diagnostic test on the 22nd. However, the test results showed that Cha Cheol-nam is not a psychopath.
