【Financial News Wando=Hwang Taejong Reporter】Jeonnam Wando-gun announced on the 27th that it is the only county-level local government in the nation to have three 'Blue Flag' certified beaches.
According to Wando-gun, the 'Blue Flag' is a prestigious eco-friendly certification granted by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) after evaluating water quality, safety, environmental education, and eco-friendly facilities across four categories, meeting 137 stringent requirements.
First, Sinji Myeongsasipri Beach has become the first in Asia to receive 'Blue Flag' certification for eight consecutive years, highly praised for its cleanliness and the value of its marine tourism resources. Notably, Sinji Myeongsasipri has also been designated as an 'Excellent Beach,' a title given to only 10 out of over 5,000 beaches worldwide, making it even more significant.
Additionally, Bogil Yesong-ri Beach has received 'Blue Flag' certification for five consecutive years and is composed of natural cobblestones. It is highly rated for its low sediment and excellent purification capabilities, making it exceptionally clean.
Moreover, Cheongsan Sinhung-ri Beach has also obtained 'Blue Flag' certification for three consecutive years, recognized as a safe beach with clean water and low waves. Particularly, the marine healing park located in the pine forest near Cheongsan Sinhung-ri Beach offers various healing programs such as seaweed, seawater mist, fragrance, and herb maekbanseok, emerging as a healing destination.
A Wando-gun official stated, "The 'Blue Flag' certification will serve as a stepping stone for Wando to become an internationally recognized marine tourist destination, beyond just securing an eco-friendly image," adding, "We will continue to strive to create clean and safe beach environments."
Meanwhile, Sinji Myeongsasipri Beach will open on July 12, and 10 other beaches in various towns and villages will open on July 25.
