The commissioning ceremony for the 154th class of Air Force officer candidates, including 332 men and 110 women, was held at the main parade ground of the Education Command.
New officers underwent education and training for three months, entering the Basic Military Training Group last February, progressing through the stages of soldierization and officerization.
According to the Air Force on the 27th, the commissioning ceremony held that day proceeded in the order of 'Awarding of Certificates and Prizes, Presentation of Commissioning Orders and Ranks, Commissioning Oath, Education Commander's Congratulatory Speech, Black Eagles' Celebratory Flight'.
In his congratulatory speech, Education Commander Son Seok-rak said, "I hope you will inherit the achievements and will of your senior comrades, internalize the core values of the Air Force, and grow into leaders who will be responsible for the future of the Air Force."
At the commissioning ceremony, Second Lieutenant Kim Min-seong (21, Finance) received the Minister of National Defense Award for the most outstanding performance. The Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman's Award went to Second Lieutenant Lee Gang-yun (25, Supply and Transport), the Air Force Chief of Staff Award to Second Lieutenant Lee Seung-heon (22, Supply and Transport), the Air Force Education Commander's Award to Second Lieutenant Kim Ju-yong (27, Supply and Transport), and the Basic Military Training Group Commander's Award to Second Lieutenant Heo Jong-beom (26, Supply and Transport).
At the commissioning ceremony, Second Lieutenant Kang Seong-bin (24, Intelligence), the fourth-generation descendant of independence activist Kang Yak-su, who criticized the Japanese Manchurian Incident and led anti-Japanese movements with students, and sisters who were commissioned simultaneously following their father, an Air Force warrant officer, were also in the spotlight: older sister Second Lieutenant Lee Hae-in (25, Personnel Education) and younger sister Second Lieutenant Lee Hae-min (23, Personnel Education).
