[Financial News] The National Library of Korea announced on the 27th that it will hold a joint academic conference with the Modern Bibliography Society and Kangwon National University at the Digital Library on the 29th at 2 PM.
The conference will discuss various opinions on the cultural history of modern literature binding. Binding refers to decorating the cover, endpapers, design, colors, etc., of a book. The conference will examine bindings from various periods and fields.
Research presentations will be conducted on the bindings of representative modern magazines of the 1930s, 'Munjang' and 'Chunchu', the cover art by artist Park Mun-won (1920∼1973), and illustrations of children's magazines published in North Korea after liberation.
It will also cover modern new novel cover art set against the backgrounds of Moranbong, Bubyeokru, and Neungnado in Pyongyang. The National Library of Korea stated, "We will strive not only to collect and preserve our modern literature but also to widely promote its historical value and beauty."
