Kwon Seong-dong, on the Withdrawal of the Democratic Party's Non-Judicial Supreme Court Appointment Law "Covering Eyes and Ears"

"The Only Way to Prevent National Chaos is Lee Jae-myung's Defeat... Please Save Us with Kim Moon-soo"
[Financial News] Kwon Seong-dong, co-chairman of the People's Power Party's election strategy committee, criticized the Democratic Party's withdrawal of the bill to appoint non-judicial Supreme Court justices and increase the number of justices to 100, saying it was "covering eyes and ears," and declared that "the only way to prevent national chaos is Lee Jae-myung's defeat."
Kwon announced a public appeal in the name of all 107 members of the People's Power Party at the National Assembly on this day.
He mentioned that 1,004 former and current legal professionals, including former Supreme Court justices, Constitutional Court judges, Ministers of Justice, Prosecutors General, and presidents of the Korean Bar Association, have declared the Democratic Party's attempts to impeach and hold hearings for the Chief Justice and Supreme Court justices as "constitutional destruction," showing the current state of the judiciary and democracy in crisis under Lee Jae-myung's parliamentary dictatorship, emphasizing that "it is utterly deplorable."
Kwon pointed out that although the controversial legislation to appoint non-judicial Supreme Court justices and increase the number of justices to 100 has been withdrawn, the legislation to increase the number of justices by 30, special prosecutor law for the Chief Justice, suspension of presidential trials law, and abolition of false information disclosure crime law, which are dictatorial legislations, have not been abandoned, calling it "merely covering eyes and ears."
He continued, "The fundamental reason why Lee Jae-myung's criminal forces are obsessed with dictatorial power lies in the candidate himself," arguing that "even if he is elected president, he cannot complete his term without neutralizing his trial."
Kwon pointed out that Lee's violation of the Public Official Election Act, which was overturned by the Supreme Court with a guilty verdict, is likely to result in a prison sentence or at least a heavy fine of over 1 million won, and a conclusion is expected within 2-3 months. Even if he becomes president, he will soon be confirmed guilty, be stripped of his presidency, and face another early presidential election.
He further stated, "It can only lead to a dictatorial power that suppresses and controls the judiciary," and "if democracy operates normally, this candidate will never complete his term." Kwon asserted, "However, if the candidate, who has seized the 190-seat parliamentary dictatorship power, is elected president, he will shake the constitutional order to ensure his survival."
Kwon declared, "Lee Jae-myung's attempt at dictatorial power by the Democratic Party will face strong public resistance and will never succeed," adding that it will incur enormous social costs, including national chaos and judicial uncertainty.
Furthermore, Kwon pointed out that "if (the candidate) becomes president, he will use not only the legislative branch but also the executive branch as his shield and attempt to control the judiciary," warning that "as the veto power, which was a control mechanism, disappears, the constitutional order of the Republic of Korea will collapse, and extreme chaos will engulf our society."
Kwon appealed, "There is only one way to prevent all national chaos. Lee Jae-myung's defeat," and "Please stop the dictatorial power with Kim Moon-soo (elected) and save the country from chaos."
