[Financial News] Hanwha Aerospace and Hanwha Ocean announced on the 27th that they will showcase integrated defense solutions at 'CANSEC 2025', Canada's largest defense exhibition. The companies plan to grow as strategic partners in the rapidly changing Indo-Pacific security environment.
The companies plan to participate as the only domestic company in this exhibition, which will be held from the 28th to the 29th (local time) in Ottawa, Canada. This year's exhibition will feature delegations from over 50 countries and more than 280 companies.
Hanwha Ocean will showcase the 'Jangbogo-III Batch-II (KSS-III)' submarine proposed for the Canadian Patrol Submarine Project (CPSP) worth up to 60 trillion won. The KSS-III is a weapon system whose performance has been verified by the Korean Navy's deployment (Batch-I). Batch-II is equipped with Hanwha Aerospace's lithium-ion battery (ESS) and an air-independent propulsion system (AIP), boasting a cruising range of over 7,000 nautical miles and a submersion capability of over three weeks. Hanwha Ocean will also establish an operation and maintenance (ISS) center in Canada to support continuous maintenance and performance upgrades for over 30 years.
A Hanwha Ocean representative emphasized, "It is optimized for the Canadian Navy, which requires operations across vast areas from the Pacific, Atlantic, and Arctic Oceans," adding, "We can minimize the gap in Canada's submarine power with rapid delivery and reduce maintenance costs for the aging Victoria-class submarines."
Hanwha Aerospace will showcase ground equipment for Canada's Indirect Fire Modernization (IFM) project. The exhibition will include the K9 self-propelled howitzer, exported to 10 countries worldwide, the K10 ammunition resupply vehicle, wheeled self-propelled howitzers, and the 'K9 Package', as well as the Chunmoo multiple launch rocket system. The wheeled self-propelled howitzer is particularly suitable for Canada's terrain, with a cruising range of 700 km and a maximum speed of 100 km/h. Chunmoo also presents a customized portfolio, including 'anti-ship guided missiles', for Canada, which has recently embarked on enhancing its maritime defense capabilities.
Hanwha plans to propose customized industrial cooperation measures that align with Canadian government policies, such as localizing the supply chain and technology transfer, through this exhibition.
Michael Coulter, CEO of Hanwha Global Defense, stated, "Hanwha's integrated defense solutions will meet Canada's defense needs in the short term and contribute to becoming trusted strategic partners in the Indo-Pacific region by responding to changes in the regional security environment in the medium to long term."
