【Financial News Ulsan=Choi Su-sang Reporter】The 'Ulsan Cultural Heritage Center', which combines the new storage and exhibition hall of the Ulsan Museum, is expected to gain momentum in its construction project as it passes the preliminary feasibility assessment for the establishment of a public museum by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
According to the Ulsan Museum on the 27th, the museum's collection of relics was 12,797 at the time of its opening in June 2011, but has now increased by about 10 times to 133,742.
As a result, the storage rate of the storage room is expected to reach about 80%, and it is expected to be saturated within a few years, raising the need for quick and proactive measures to secure storage space.
In response, the Ulsan Museum signed a business agreement with the Korea Land and Housing Corporation on December 30 last year to build the 'Ulsan Cultural Heritage Center', which integrates a new storage room and Down2 exhibition hall for the excavation and preservation of local cultural assets, and has begun promoting the project.
The Ulsan Cultural Heritage Center will be built with an investment of about 43 billion won and is expected to be a complex cultural facility with a total floor area of 8,000㎡ within the historical park of Ulsan Jung-gu Down2 District.
Major facilities will include relic storage space, exhibition rooms, and children's experience rooms.
Currently, it has passed the preliminary evaluation for the establishment of a public museum by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and has requested a local finance investment review from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
Ulsan City plans to start construction in 2027 after going through architectural planning services, architectural design competitions, basic and detailed designs following the investment review.
An official from the Ulsan Museum said, “The Ulsan Cultural Heritage Center will be designed to share various relics and cultural heritage with Ulsan citizens and will be researched and reviewed to fulfill its function as a complex cultural facility,” adding, “We will do our best to establish it as a cultural space for the creation and growth of Ulsan’s new city.”
