[Financial News] SRT operator SR announced on the 27th that it has raised funds through social contribution projects and donated them.
SR operates the 'SRT Sharing Love Donation Seats', allowing non-disabled people to purchase unsold wheelchair seats up to 45 minutes before train departure, donating a portion of the revenue generated. The accumulated fund from 2019 to last year amounts to a total of 280 million KRW.
This fund was used last year for the 'SRT Happy Dream Car' project, a transportation welfare service supporting vehicles for transportation-vulnerable people such as elderly people who have difficulty moving and need hospital treatment, in collaboration with Gimhae City for regional coexistence.
Additionally, through the Seoul Community Chest of Korea, it was used to supply smart shoes for the safe smart walking path of local visually impaired people and to support the repair and customized wheelchairs for severely disabled people's mobility rights.
Along with this, SR has been operating the Health Donation Stairs at Suseo Station in collaboration with Gangnam Severance Hospital since 2019. Each time a customer uses the stairs, SR and Gangnam Severance Hospital each contribute 10 KRW, accumulating 20 KRW.
Starting with an initial fundraising amount of 20 million KRW, it has increased to 40 million KRW since last year, with the cumulative donation amounting to a total of 120 million KRW.
This fund was used last December through the Make-A-Wish Foundation Korea to grant wishes to children with incurable diseases and to support customized advanced assistive devices for disabled children through the Warm Companion Social Welfare Foundation.
Furthermore, SR has opened up unused spaces at stations free of charge, providing office space to 44 startups and venture companies. At the 'SR Lucky Market', a nationwide agricultural and marine product direct transaction market held in Suseo Station Square, 66 local farms participated, with sales amounting to 110 million KRW. The rental income generated from the direct transaction market is reused for local agricultural product donations, practicing a regional coexistence circular social contribution activity.
Meanwhile, SR has been recognized for its continuous social contribution efforts, being selected as a community contribution recognized institution organized by the Ministry of Health and Welfare for five consecutive years and achieving the highest level, Level 5, for two consecutive years. As a result of diverse support for local farms, it has also been selected as a rural ESG practicing company organized by the Foundation for Cooperation among Large, Small, and Medium Enterprises and Agriculture and Fisheries for three consecutive years.
SR CEO Lee Jong-guk stated, "We are always contemplating what social responsibilities SR, as a public corporation, should fulfill," and "We will establish ourselves as a public corporation that spreads social value by coexisting with regions and growing together with small and medium-sized enterprises based on safety and innovation."
