Shin Sang-jin, Mayor of Seongnam, Receives 'Couple of the Year' Award... Exemplifies Model Couple for 38 Years

【Financial News Seongnam=Jang Chung-sik Reporter】Shin Sang-jin, Mayor of Seongnam, and his wife Kim Mi-sook received the 'Couple of the Year' award from the World Couple's Day Committee on the occasion of Couple's Day 2025. 
According to the World Couple's Day Committee on the 27th, the committee visited Seongnam City Hall on the 26th, the day before, to present the couple award to Mayor Shin. 
The Couple of the Year award is hosted by the World Couple's Day Committee and has been awarded since 2007 to local government leader couples who have contributed to the spread of a healthy couple culture in celebration of 'Couple's Day'.
Mayor Shin and his wife, who met during their university days while engaging in the labor movement as a 'partner couple', were highly evaluated for their dedication, with his wife's 'supportive love' helping him through the process of medical reform struggles and imprisonment, and supporting his activities as a four-term National Assembly member and Mayor of Seongnam.
Recently, they were also recognized for creating a successful program called Solomon's Choice (SOLO MON's Choice), an event for single men and women to meet and form couple relationships.
The World Couple's Day Committee stated, "Mayor Shin and his wife, who met during their university days while engaging in the labor movement as a partner couple, have shown the model of a supportive couple for 38 years, being a pillar during difficult times and caring for the society's needy neighbors," explaining the reason for their selection.
Previously, the World Couple's Day Committee selected 20 couples, including Mayor Shin and his wife, as recipients of the model couple award and held an award ceremony on the 21st. 
However, due to a busy schedule, Mayor Shin could not attend the award ceremony, so the committee visited Seongnam City Hall to personally present the couple award.
Mayor Shin Sang-jin said, "I am grateful for the honorable award of Couple of the Year given to my wife and me," and expressed his gratitude and love to his wife, who has supported him with unwavering faith and love during life's difficult moments.
He also said, "I will continue to work with my wife to spread a healthy couple culture in our society," sharing his acceptance speech.
