[Financial News] Seoul City announced on the 27th that it successfully completed the '2025 2nd Mongolian Urban Development Practitioners Capacity Building Training'.
This training, conducted over seven days from the 19th to the 25th, is a cooperative program to apply Seoul's urban development experience to Mongolian urban issues. It focuses on nurturing professional manpower for solving urban problems.
The Mongolian practitioners' training is a core implementation project of the 'Mongolian Urban Development Professional Manpower Training Project', jointly promoted by KOICA, Seoul National University Korea-Mongolia Urban Cooperation Center, and the Mongolian University of Science and Technology. Following last year, Seoul City is also promoting this training this year, expanding the possibilities of a sustainable international urban cooperation model.
This 2nd training included 20 practitioners in urban planning, architecture, and environment from seven institutions, including the Mongolian Ministry of Construction and Urban Development, Ulaanbaatar City Hall, and the Mongolian University of Science and Technology. This year, the program was operated to further enhance the applicability of policies in Mongolia, following visible achievements such as the partial realization of policy ideas presented during the 1st training.
During the schedule, lectures by experts on Seoul City's advanced transportation systems, environmental policies, and urban development policies were held in the morning. In the afternoon, considering the linkage of lectures, field visits and experiences were conducted at the Seonam Water Reclamation Center, Cheong Wa Dae autonomous bus boarding, TOPIS (Traffic Operation and Information Service), Gangnam Complex Transfer Center construction site, and Sanggye Station subway construction site.
In addition to policy field visits, trainees experienced Seoul's waterfront space utilization through a Han River official boat tour. It was an opportunity to enhance understanding of the harmony between Seoul's landscape design and urban planning by appreciating the urban landscape and major landmarks along the waterfront space in the city.
On the last day of the training, the 26th, Mongolian trainees shared their lecture and field visit experiences, exploring future policy directions for Mongolia and proposing policies to solve Mongolian urban problems based on Seoul City's urban development cases and advanced technologies.
Enkh Naran Amgalan, Director of Urban Development at the Ministry of Urban Development and Construction, a participant, expressed, "Through this invitation training program, I was able to feel Seoul's latest technology and operational methods, and I was greatly inspired by the experiences I had on-site."
Namjoon Cho, Director of Seoul City's Urban Space Headquarters, said, "The significance of the training program can be found in the fact that Seoul City's urban policies are being applied to overseas urban sites," adding, "Seoul City will continue to expand the international cooperation platform where talents in the field of urban development can learn and grow together."
