[Financial News] MgenSolution announced on the 27th that it has completed the installation of an AI-based fire detection system at Garak Market with its subsidiary Hyundai Infracore. This was achieved as a result of a government-funded project and has been installed in both underground and above-ground facilities, including vehicles.
The AI-based product can prevent and immediately suppress not only general fires but also lithium battery fires. It features a function that alerts the location and fire risk of vehicles in advance, enabling precise fire detection even in large-scale markets. An alarm function is also provided, allowing the market's own fire trucks to be dispatched immediately upon fire detection.
Garak Agricultural and Fisheries Wholesale Market is the largest agricultural and fisheries wholesale market in Korea. Due to the enlargement and densification of logistics centers and the increase in electric logistics equipment, fire countermeasures are urgently needed. Especially, if a fire occurs during charging, there is a high risk of it spreading into a large fire.
Additionally, as the replacement with lithium-ion batteries accelerates, there are risks such as battery explosions. MgenSolution's product is the only one in Korea with a disaster safety certification and features an automatic unmanned spraying function for fire extinguishing agents dedicated to lithium batteries. This solution allows for initial response within 30 seconds of a fire with its 24-hour detection and control function.
According to the Fire Department last year, approximately 300 fires occurred in traditional markets over the past five years, resulting in property damage of about 83 billion won. Experts say that the high fire occurrence rate is due to the presence of flammable and combustible materials throughout the market. The complex structure and various stalls make it difficult for fire trucks to access, making initial suppression crucial. Furthermore, traditional markets have many fire-prone elements such as maze-like passages, dense shops, and large quantities of stored goods, increasing the likelihood of rapid fire spread.
A company representative said, "We have been recognized for our technological prowess by completing the first installation in the largest agricultural and fisheries wholesale market in Korea," adding, "There is a trend of large-scale budget allocations for traditional market fire-related issues recently. We plan to expand installations to traditional markets nationwide starting with this supply."
