[Financial News] LS MnM announced on the 27th that its copper brands 'Onsan I (ONSAN I)' and 'Onsan II (ONSAN II)' have received the highest grade 'Grade 1' certification from the New York Mercantile Exchange (COMEX).
This achievement means that LS MnM has completed the highest grade registration at all three of the world's major non-ferrous metal futures exchanges, following the London Metal Exchange (2000) and the Shanghai Futures Exchange (2009).
The COMEX certification is granted based on the chemical and physical standards of the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), requiring a purity of over 99.95% and comprehensive evaluation of handling durability.
LS MnM met the stringent certification requirements with copper of 99.99% purity. Grade 1 copper is excellent in conductivity, workability, and corrosion resistance, and is mainly used in high-end electronic components and precision processing fields.
Through this registration, LS MnM explained that it has solidified its foundation for entering the North American market amid global trade uncertainties. COMEX, along with London and Shanghai, is a major exchange influencing global non-ferrous metal prices, and registration alone is evaluated to enhance brand credibility and export competitiveness.
LS MnM produces about 95% of the domestic copper production, equivalent to 600,000 tons annually, and exports approximately 180,000 tons overseas.
Gu Dong-hwi, CEO of LS MnM, stated, "This COMEX registration is another testament to LS MnM's technological and quality competitiveness," adding, "We will continue to enhance the global competitiveness of domestic copper through continuous efforts and innovation, and grow into a more trusted smelting company." moving@fnnews.com Lee Dong-hyuk Reporter
