This event, which runs from the 30th of this month to the 5th of next month, was planned to commemorate the 30th 'Ocean Day' (May 31). Seasonal seafood carefully selected by Shinsegae's seafood buyers, such as cuttlefish, croaker, and live flower crab, will be offered at a discount, and various attractions such as live fish cutting shows will also be prepared.
First, you can find seafood perfect for restoring vitality in early summer. Representative examples include cuttlefish and croaker, which are plump before spawning, female flower crabs full of roe, and spring gulbi with rich umami.
Major stores such as the main branch, Times Square branch, South City branch, Uijeongbu branch, Centum City branch, and Gwangju branch will also host snack pop-ups decorated with the 'Beach Festival' concept. Special delicacies that captivate customers' tastes, such as cuttlefish sashimi, steamed live crab, abalone butter rice, and squid sausage, are prepared in one place. Additionally, at the sashimi and sushi corners, each store will hold a 'live sashimi cutting show' where seasonal fish such as croaker and butterfish are prepared on the spot, adding freshness and a sense of presence.
Shinsegae Department Store's mobile app also offers 'special discount coupons for abalone'.
Meanwhile, Shinsegae Department Store plans to strengthen its hygiene management system from this month to the end of September to meet the increased demand for seafood in the summer.
They will focus on inspecting high-risk seafood such as live fish, shellfish, and raw fish, and will introduce a real-time tracking management system to prevent hygiene risks in advance by frequently checking water temperature and sales temperature.
Choi Won-jun, executive director of food at Shinsegae Department Store, said, "We will satisfy the five senses with differentiated seafood content that includes taste, health, and fun."
