[Financial News] Doosan Enerbility announced on the 27th that it has won a contract to supply main equipment for two gas combined cycle power plants under construction in Saudi Arabia. The contract is worth approximately 340 billion won. An EPC joint venture has signed a contract to supply steam turbine and generator packages to the Ghazlan 2 Expansion power plant and the Hajar Expansion power plant with the same client.
This EPC joint venture consists of Tecnicas Reunidas, the largest construction company in Spain and Egypt, and Orascom.
The Ghazlan 2 and Hajar gas combined cycle power plants are both located about 400km northeast of the capital, Riyadh. Each has a capacity of 2900MW and will be constructed in stages until 2028. Under this contract, Doosan Enerbility will supply two steam turbines and generators (650MW and 540MW) to each of the two power plants.
Seungwoo Son, Head of Power Services BG at Doosan Enerbility, said, "Based on the trust and technological capabilities built over more than 40 years in the Middle East, we are continuing to achieve order successes," and "We will strive to further enhance customer trust with timely delivery of high-quality products and do our best to secure subsequent business orders."
Doosan Enerbility has secured 7.3GW (a total of 12 units), accounting for 33.1% of the cumulative output of 22.1GW of ultra-large steam turbines for combined cycle power generation ordered worldwide over the past five years. It has held the number one market share for the past five years. Among these, it has signed contracts to supply nine steam turbines in Saudi Arabia alone since last year.
