【Financial News Gyeonggi=Kim Kyung-soo Reporter】 Gyeonggi-do announced on the 27th that the improvement project for the flood-prone area of Yongjeongcheon located in Yongjeong-ri, Jingeon-eup, Namyangju-si has been completed.
This project is implemented for areas urgently needing flood damage prevention, such as raising embankments or widening waterways for water management purposes.
Yongjeongcheon is a flood-prone section where flood damage occurs due to heavy rain. The province invested 157 billion won in this Yongjeongcheon project.
Construction began in April 2022, and a 0.96km section of the river was renovated. The existing river width was expanded to improve river flow and secure waterway cross-sectional area.
The province created an eco-friendly river. 'Environmental vegetation blocks' and 'natural stone stacking' were applied to allow plants to grow naturally.
Embankment roads and vehicle access roads were also renovated to ensure residents can walk safely.
The province expects that Yongjeongcheon will be free from damage from heavy rains this summer due to this project.
Kang Seong-seub, Director of Construction at Gyeonggi-do Office, said, “We will make every effort to focus on and actively renovate areas expected to suffer flood damage due to summer typhoons and heavy rains to prevent major damage from heavy rains.”
