Hong Jun-pyo, strongly denies 'Myung Tae-gyun suspicion' on Facebook
[Financial News] Former People Power Party member Kim Young-sun revealed checks suspected as evidence of 'survey payment suspicion' against former Daegu Mayor Hong Jun-pyo to the media, while former Mayor Hong denied it, saying, "The 100 million won revealed by Kim Young-sun was money borrowed through fraud by Myung Tae-gyun and Kim Tae-yeol in collusion with Park Jae-gi."
On the 27th, former Mayor Hong stated on his Facebook, "That money was reported to be borrowed for the management funds of the Future Research Institute, managed by Kim Tae-yeol, introduced by Park Jae-gi's acquaintance," he conveyed.
Former Assembly member Kim, who is on trial for violating the Political Funds Act, revealed two checks in front of the Changwon District Court the day before the trial.
The checks revealed by former Assembly member Kim were issued in April 2022 and September 2020, respectively, by Woori Bank and Nonghyup. One check was for 50 million won, and the withdrawal slip for the issued amount was claimed by former Assembly member Kim to have been received by Kim Tae-yeol, former head of the Future Korea Research Institute, from Park Jae-gi, a close associate of former Mayor Hong.
Former Mayor Hong is suspected of commissioning favorable surveys to the Future Korea Research Institute, a polling company suspected of being involved in operations by 'political broker' Myung Tae-gyun, who was indicted for violating the Political Funds Act, and having the costs paid by his close associates.
In response, former Mayor Hong said, "I am bewildered as to why they are trying to involve me in the fraudster manipulation among political brokers Kim Young-sun, Myung Tae-gyun, Kang Hye-kyung, and Kim Tae-yeol," adding, "It will be revealed upon investigation."
He further emphasized, "If I had known they would continue such acts, I wouldn't have withdrawn the lawsuit. That money is not for survey costs, and Kim Young-sun herself would know it is related to borrowing fraud. If they do such acts again, they will be punished for false accusation."
Meanwhile, Daegu Police Agency is investigating former Mayor Hong and his associates over the 'Myung Tae-gyun survey payment suspicion,' and it is known that former Mayor Hong and his associates completely deny the allegations related to Myung Tae-gyun.
