Just before landing in Hanoi, Vietnam during Southeast Asia tour... Captured through the open door
[Financial News] A video of Emmanuel Macron, the President of France, being punched in the face by his wife Brigitte is spreading on social network services (SNS), causing controversy.
U.S. CNN and other foreign media reported on the 25th (local time) that just before President Macron disembarked from his private jet upon arriving in Hanoi, Vietnam, the first country of his Southeast Asia tour, a hand in a red top flew towards his face.
President Macron, who was pushed back with a surprised expression, soon realized that the door of the private jet was open and walked out of the plane with a nonchalant expression. Brigitte followed him down, wearing the very red clothes that appeared when she hit President Macron's face.
Even before descending the private jet stairs, President Macron extended his arm as if to ask Brigitte to hold it, but she ignored it and held onto the railing.
This scene was captured by media cameras trying to capture President Macron's arrival in Hanoi. According to AFP, the video was widely spread through pro-Russian SNS accounts that were usually hostile to President Macron.
The presidential office initially claimed the video was fake but later confirmed it was real. A presidential aide downplayed it as a 'harmless couple's quarrel.'
Another presidential aide told reporters, "The presidential couple was sharing a last joke to relieve tension before starting the tour," adding, "It was just a moment of togetherness. There is no need to fuel conspiracy theorists' speculations with further explanations."
President Macron is scheduled to visit Indonesia and Singapore following Vietnam.
