[Financial News] On the 14th, Bitcoin (BTC) dropped below the $100,000 mark. This decline is attributed to growing concerns over an economic slowdown, despite the end of the Federal government of the United States' government shutdown.
According to CoinMarketCap, as of 10:10 a.m. on this day, BTC was trading at around $98,000, down 3.19% over the past 24 hours. Over the past week, BTC has declined by 2.38%. It is the first time in six months, since last May, that BTC has fallen below the $100,000 threshold.
In the Korean won market, BTC is trading at approximately 149 million won. According to Cryprice, the premium in Korea stands at 3.57%.
Although the government shutdown of the Federal government of the United States, which lasted a record 43 days, ended the previous day, concerns over market volatility have led to selling pressure on risky assets such as cryptocurrencies. With the shutdown over, delayed economic indicators are expected to be released. However, the market anticipates an economic slowdown, and the outlook for additional interest rate cuts by the Federal Reserve System (Fed) within the year has become uncertain.
Susan Collins, President of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston (Boston Fed), stated in a public speech the previous day, "It seems appropriate to maintain the current level of the benchmark interest rate for the time being," expressing her stance to keep rates unchanged.
U.S. stock markets also declined across the board. On the 13th (local time), the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) closed at 47,457.22, down 797.60 points (1.65%) from the previous session. The S&P 500 Index (S&P 500) fell 113.43 points (1.66%) to 6,737.49, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq Stock Market (Nasdaq) plunged 536.10 points (2.29%) to finish at 22,870.36.
At the same time, Ethereum was trading at around $3,189, down 6.93% from the previous day. Ripple was down 4.07%, trading at approximately $2.29.
