[Financial News] The Korea Forest Service announced that as of 6 PM on the 13th, the landslide alert level will be raised to 'Caution' for 14 cities and provinces, excluding Seoul, Incheon, and Gyeonggi regions. The metropolitan area will maintain the 'Interest' level.
Currently, heavy rain warnings are in effect in Gwangju, Jeonnam, Jeonbuk, Gyeongnam, and Jeju Island areas. In Busan, Daegu, Ulsan, Gangwon, and Gyeongbuk metropolitan cities and provinces, preliminary heavy rain warnings have been issued, with expectations of 30-80mm, and up to 120mm of rain by the 15th.
Accordingly, the Korea Forest Service held a situation assessment meeting, considering the rainfall forecast and the antecedent rainfall in these areas, and issued an elevated landslide alert.
Choi Hyun-soo, head of the Korea Forest Service's Landslide Prevention Division, said, "As the landslide alert has been raised to caution, please pay attention to emergency disaster messages and village broadcasts," adding, "In case of evacuation orders, residents in areas affected by forest fires or adjacent to forests should evacuate to designated shelters such as community centers."
